Thunder makes statement win over Suns
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to show why they are one of the NBA’s rising powers, delivering a strong all-around performance in their most recent outing with a decisive lategame push that sealed the 119-84 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

Oklahoma City leaned on its signature formula—balanced scoring, relentless defense, and composure in key moments—to take control down the stretch. After a tightly contested first half, the Thunder found another gear in the third quarter, turning defensive stops into transition opportunities and igniting the home crowd with a flurry of fast-break points.

Leading the charge once again was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who controlled the tempo and delivered in the clutch. Whether attacking the rim, knocking down mid-range jumpers, or creating for teammates, Gilgeous-Alexander’s presence proved to be the difference- maker when the game tightened.

Oklahoma City’s supporting cast played a pivotal role as well. The Thunder showcased their depth with timely contributions across the roster, including strong perimeter shooting and active rebounding that limited second-chance opportunities for their opponent. Their defensive intensity—particularly in the second half—forced turnovers and disrupted rhythm, allowing OKC to steadily pull away.

The turning point came midway through the fourth quarter, when the Thunder strung together a decisive run fueled by defensive pressure and efficient ball movement. What had been a close contest quickly shifted into a comfortable lead, highlighting the team’s maturity and ability to close out games.

With the win, the Thunder continue to build momentum and reinforce their identity as one of the league’s most exciting young teams.
