The Checotah Wildcats (20-7) put together a complete performance Saturday, rolling past Haskell 11-0 behind a big day from Cale Thompson at the Checotah Crossroads Classic.
Thompson led the charge with four RBIs on two clutch doubles, breaking the game open with a three-run shot in the fourth inning. Checotah wasted no time getting started, as Taten Ferguson delivered a two-run single in the first to set the tone early.
A fly out by Traegan Duvall, a double by Cale Thompson, and a single by Jake Patterson helped Checotah Varsity Wildcats extend their early lead in the third.
The Wildcats kept the pressure on, adding runs in the third before erupting for five more in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
On the mound, Mason Rainbolt set the tone with a dominant start, not allowing a hit while striking out six and walking four. Ty Guthrie closed the door in relief with scoreless innings to seal the shutout.
Checotah also shined defensively, playing error- free baseball, with Kross Stauffer leading the way in the field.
It was a strong allaround effort for the Wildcats, combining timely hitting, sharp pitching, and solid defense in an impressive victory.
Wildcats unleash offensive explosion in rout of Warner
The Checotah Wildcats came out swinging Friday and never let up, rolling past Warner 14-1 in a dominant, allaround performance.
Checotah wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for six runs in the first inning. Kross Stauffer sparked the rally with an RBI single, Mason Rainbolt followed with a two-run double, and the Wildcats kept the line moving with run-scoring efforts from Traegan Duvall, Ace Wilhite, and Eli Patterson.
The momentum only grew in the second inning as Checotah piled on six more runs behind a flurry of hits. Taten Ferguson delivered a run-scoring double, Duvall added an RBI single, Wilhite drove in two, and Patterson capped the surge with a two-run knock to push the lead out of reach.
Checotah continued to add on in the third, with Rainbolt ripping an RBI single down the line before another run crossed on a wild pitch.
On the mound, Ace Wilhite was sharp and in control, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out six over three and twothirds innings to earn the win. The Wildcats’ pitching staff kept Warner in check from start to finish.
At the plate, Checotah racked up 13 hits, with Ferguson, Patterson, Stauffer, Rainbolt, and Wilhite each collecting two hits. Patterson and Rainbolt led the charge with three RBIs apiece.
The Wildcats were just as impressive defensively, playing error-free baseball while flashing speed on the base paths with six stolen bases. Stauffer anchored the defense with a teamhigh eight chances.
It was a complete performance for Checotah— power at the plate, precision on the mound, and flawless defense— showing a team hitting its stride at the right time.
