The Eufaula Lady Ironheads wasted no time setting the tone Monday, unleashing an early offensive surge and backing it up with airtight defense in a commanding 10-0 shutout victory over Weleetka.
From the first pitch, Eufaula came out aggressive and in control.
The Lady Ironheads opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, stringing together three sharp singles to jump ahead. Maddison Lee ignited the offense with a run-scoring hit, giving Eufaula an early edge and momentum they would never surrender.
That momentum only grew in the second inning.
Eufaula poured it on with a four-run frame, highlighted by Hannah Beaver’s clutch single that drove in two runs. Abby Box followed with an RBI single of her own, and pressure on the base paths forced a Weleetka miscue that brought another run across. By the end of the inning, the Lady Ironheads had firmly taken control.
Then came the knockout blow.
In the third inning, Leah Green ripped a double to extend the lead to 10-0, putting the game well out of reach and showcasing the depth of Eufaula’s lineup.
While the offense stole the spotlight, the Lady Ironheads’ defense and pitching were just as dominant.
Abby Box delivered a composed and efficient performance in the circle, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while keeping Weleetka off balance throughout. Behind her, the defense was sharp and disciplined, turning two double plays and consistently shutting down any scoring threats before they could develop.
At the plate, Eufaula tallied 11 hits in a balanced team effort. Box, Briley Gragg, and Green each recorded two hits, while Box, Beaver, Green, and Ava Neill all drove in two runs apiece, a testament to the Lady Ironheads’ ability to produce up and down the lineup.
