New card games teaches kids about blood donation

Our Blood Institute is thrilled to announce that REVIVR™, a new educational card game designed to build awareness about the importance of being a blood donor, is currently being tested in classrooms.

This innovative game introduces players of all ages to the science of blood matching and highlights the lifesaving impact of blood donors in an engaging and interactive way. “Blood donation is an essential part of saving lives, and passing down the values of generosity and community responsibility is just as vital,” said Dr. John Armitage, president and CEO of Our Blood Institute. “REVIVR™ is not just a game; it’s a tool to inspire families, friends and loved ones to share the importance of giving blood and ensure these lifesaving values are carried forward to future generations.”

REVIVR™ is designed to align with STEM education goals, making it a valuable resource for families to enjoy or teachers looking to incorporate interactive learning into their curriculum. By combining education and entertainment, the game is sparking curiosity and inspiring the next generation to consider the importance of blood donation.

Students at Holy Trinity Lutheran School in Edmond, OK are among the first to explore the game, diving into hands-on gameplay that challenges them to think critically while learning how blood donation saves lives.

“Games make learning hands-on and engaging for students while addressing a serious and important topic,” said Rachel Trowbridge, principal of Holy Trinity Lutheran School. “Many students shared stories of loved ones who had received blood, and I believe bringing that awareness home to their parents will encourage more people to donate.”

See REVIVR™ in action! Watch classroom moments and hear from Dr. Armitage and Principal Trowbridge in this short video: https://youtu. be/CdA_sOd-gCw To purchase your own REVIVR™ deck, visit shopmissionmarket. org, where you can celebrate the lifesaving mission of blood donation and support vital programs. Mission Market is more than a store—it’s a resource to inspire generosity and compassion. Proceeds from purchases help fund the Global Blood Fund, expanding donations in low-resource countries and strengthening the global blood community.

Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old* or older can give blood. Donation typically takes only about an hour, and one donation saves up to three lives. Appointments to donate can be made online at obi.org or by calling 877-340-8777. Walkins are also welcome.

*16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; 18+ year olds must weigh at least 110 pounds. Photo ID required.
