The Eufaula Ironheads couldn’t find their rhythm on Monday, falling 8-0 to a red-hot Hartshorne squad that dominated in every facet of the game.
Hartshorne wasted no time applying pressure, striking in the bottom of the second inning. After the Miners earned a walk and grounded out, both managed to cross the plate to give Hartshorne an early 2-0 lead and they never looked back.
Eufaula’s Dawson Hughes took the mound to start and held Hartshorne hitless over two innings, but control issues proved costly. Hughes walked four and gave up two runs despite not allowing a single hit, striking out one in the process.
At the plate, Jax Williams and Carson Luna were the bright spots for Eufaula, each collecting two hits. But the Ironheads couldn’t string anything together to crack Hartshorne’s pitching.
Hartshorne’s lineup was anchored by a dynamic duo who each racked up two hits while batting back-to-back. Hartshorne delivered in the clutch, driving in three runs and finishing a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Their aggressive play extended to the base paths as well, where Hartshorne wreaked havoc with four stolen bases, keeping the Ironheads’ defense on edge all game long.
