There are a lot of things that the big city has over small towns but one thing they do not have is the small town, friendly people that you can see at breakfast in a small town café. Just the other day I was blessed with having a great conversation with a senior couple that prayed together before eating while holding hands. Then an in-depth talk with a Korean War veteran who told me his story of being in the war after I shook his hand and thanked him for his service.
Then I had a conversation with a friend from church and the group of men that sat together discussing the world’s problems and views on sports. Of course, they grilled me for information on the latest sports news in the county. I wouldn’t want to change a thing about growing up and living in a small town.
Sure there are those big city folks in New York or Chicago that think we’re just a bunch of hillbillies, but what they don’t know is that we get to enjoy living on a lake, seeing wildlife of all kinds, beautiful trees and gardens and eating real homegrown food.
The most important thing is the wonderful neighbors and friends that make up our great community.
