As we shared yesterday (April 2), the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) recently began targeting the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) with the intention of significantly reducing staff, rescinding grants already awarded, and eliminating the agency’s grants program.

Late last night (April 2) , at the direction of DOGE, all 56 state, jurisdictional, and territorial humanities councils, including Oklahoma Humanities, received termination of general operating support grant notices from the NEH.

We have little information at this time. If you have not already contacted your representatives and senators, please do so immediately. Share this update with colleagues, friends, family, anyone who believes the humanities should be accessible to all Oklahomans.
