Is your life under control or under construction? If it’s under control then it’s managed, restrained, regulated and disciplined. People who manage their emotions stay composed, calm, steady and have self-control. One who has self-control has mastered their mind and emotions and even their reactions. Under control means in control. When one is in control of their life they are generally under the control of a Greater Authority – God Almighty. The One Who is in control of everything. Yet He lovingly gives us free will to choose to be under His control which helps to regulate our own authority in Him. When I think of being under His control I think how I willingly allow His Spirit to manage my thoughts, my prayers and therefore my emotions. Because I have always been a very strong-willed child that became a strong-willed adult I have had to learn even though I have always stepped into a place of authority in every role or job I’ve ever had, I also have had to surrender my authority to the One upstairs that still knows better than I do.
When Jesus spoke it was always under control and He had all authority. When he spoke to the wind and the waves, they obeyed! When He spoke to the demons to come out, they fled. When He spoke to death to let go, Lazarus got up! He was in control and everything was under His control as well. When we are under Him then we are under control, under His authority and under His covering.
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
In other words, why call Him Lord over your life if you aren’t going to let Him have all authority over your life and let Him be in control so you can be under the control of His Spirit?
Is this why so many are still under construction? A phase where people can see that there is some work being done but still the house can’t be moved into and the road can’t be driven on. Technically, under construction is just a mess and all over the place. Under construction isn’t of much use until it’s complete and under control again. Is this why so many are still under development and still a work in progress? It’s not that one can’t be under construction in the beginning but do we say we are still a work in progress only because we don’t want to be under His control? Because once we get past being under construction then we should get our body, soul and spirit under control, correct?
So really you have to decide, do you want to be under control or under construction? The choice is yours, my friend, but I’m choosing to be under His control, authority and covering.
