Victory Christian conquerors Checotah Wildcats in baseball action

The Checotah Wildcats (313) fell to the Victory Christian Conquerors 5-3 on Monday at Checotah on a beautiful sunny day. The Conquerors handed Checotah their 12th loss of the year.

Victory Christian got on the board first in the third when Crew Watashe doubled, scoring one run.

An error gave Checotah the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth. Jake Butterfield scored after tagging up, which helped Victory Christian tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.

A solo home run to left field by Cale Thompson gave Checotah the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth as the home team fans erupted in cheers.

Victory Christians Tristan Thomas homered to left field, which tied the game at three in the top of the seventh.

The Conquerors took the lead, 5-3, in the top of the eighth thanks to singles by Journey Boswell, and Cash Veitch.

Mason Rainbolt of Checotah started the game on the mound for the Wildcats. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs over six and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking six. Tristan Thomas started on the bump for Victory Christian. The hurler surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Cale Thompson went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Logan Crawford led Checotah with two hits in four at bats. Checotah did not commit a single error in the game. Kross Stauffer had the most chances in the field with 12.

Journey Boswell led Victory Christian with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Cash Veitch, Tristan Thomas, Crew Watashe, Parker McFarland, and Journey Boswell each collected one hit for Victory Christian. Sean Kester paced the Conquerors with two walks. Checotah gave Victory Christian seven walks in the game.
