DURANT – The Southeastern Oklahoma State University eSports team – SEsports – hosted rival East Central University for another in-person LAN match at the Southeastern eSports Arena in the Glen D. Johnson Student Center last weekend, with SEsports winning the varsity match and ECU winning the junior varsity match.

The Savage Storm and Tigers competed firstto- three win matches of the game “Overwatch”, with Southeastern taking the varsity match by a 3-0 count, and ECU winning the junior varsity match 3-1.

SEsports regularly competes with other teams remotely and has played ECU in-person each semester. This is the second spring in which Southeastern has hosted in the state-ofthe- art eSports Arena. The traveling trophy between the rivals will once again stay in Durant.

“This series is so enjoyable for both schools, and it’s a fun experience playing a team in person,” said SEsports coordinator Steven Harris. “Our team plays opponents every week from across the USA and Canada, but there’s another added level of competition when the other team is in the same room.”

Esports Varsity team members who defeated East Central on Tuesday were Joshua Bell, a marketing major from Boswell, Lukas Lowrance, an aviation-professional pilot major from Trenton, Texas, Jacob Gentry, a computer information systems major from Boswell, Garrett Morrison, a psychology major from Hendrix, and Ethan Cooper, a communication major from Bells.

SEsports Junior Var-sity team members are Jagger Qualls, an aviation-professional pilot major from Cumby, Texas, Riley Wilhite, a music major from Madill, Azure Ammons-Coxsey, a psychology major from Durant, Kimini Garrett, a communication major from Hugo, and Jarrett Pratt, a Computer Information Systems major from Durant. The Overwatch team is coached by Garrett Lovins, with Kyler Drake providing commentary on the You-Tube broadcast.
