Paul Gene Altstatt

Paul Gene Altstatt, 78, passed away on Feb. 10, 2025, at UF Health Shands in Gainesville, Florida, returning home to be with Jesus.

Born in Weleetka, Oklahoma, on Feb. 22, 1946, to the late Earl E. Altstatt and Irene Leffler Altstatt, Paul was raised in Hanna, Oklahoma, where he attended the local school.

Paul dedicated 20 years of his life to working on the pipeline and an additional 17 years at Winn-Dixie.

His passions included reading his Bible, perusing his hometown newspapers, the Indian Journal, watching football, fishing, working with horses, and, most notably, playing the lottery with a lucky streak of wins.

Though he spent the majority of his life in Hanna, Oklahoma, surrounded by family and friends, Paul relocated to Florida in 1993, where he resided until his passing.

ents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Joe Altstatt; and his nephew, David A. Luke.

Paul is survived by his sister, Rebecca Bogard (Joe) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Anne I. Altstatt (of the late Ronnie Joe) of Middleburg, Florida; his nephew, Samuel D. Altstatt (Sheila) of Fort McCoy, Florida, who also served as his caretaker; his niece, Toni Luke (of the late David A. Luke) of Middleburg, Florida; his niece, Sandra A. Hansen (Jim) of Orange Park, Florida; and his nephew, Joseph R. Altstatt of Keystone Heights, Florida.

In addition, he is survived by 26 great-nephews and 27 great-nieces, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

A graveside service was held at Black Creek Cemetery on Feb. 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. with Reverend George Palmer officiating. Arrangements are by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Keystone Heights. 904964-6200 www.jonesgallagherfh. com.
