2025 Checotah Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

The Checotah Athletic Hall of Fame inducted the 2025 Class this past Tuesday night. The class included Matt Vandiver, Imogene Duvall and Cade Shropshire. Matt Vandiver is a 1972 Checotah graduate that excelled in football, was the president of the student council, State and National Honor Society and FFA treasurer.

Vandiver was named All-Conference in football and received the Tom Minor Award.

After high school Vandiver attended the University of Oklahoma. He has been the voice of the Checotah Wildcats basketball programs for 43 years and the announcer for the Checotah football team for 39 years. Vandiver is married to his beautiful wife Lisa.

Vivian Imogene Duvall is a 1964 Checotah graduate that played basketball and was a member of the 4H Club and Pep Club. Duvall was a member of the Lady Wildcats’ State Tournament team under head coach Truman Dixon. Duvall graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and taught school at Checotah. Duvall received the 1990-91 Teacher of the Year award and was instrumental in getting the bond passed for the Event Center. Duvall also kept the stats for the Wildcats’ basketball programs for 30 years. Duvall is married to National Rodeo Hall of Famer Bill Duvall.

Cade Shropshire is a 2019 Checotah graduate. Shropshire was a four-sport athlete competing in football, wrestling, baseball and track and field. His achievements include, 2017 3A State Wrestling third place, 2018 State Wrestling Champion, 2019 State Wrestling Champion, 2018, Class 4A 3200-m relay state qualifier, 2019 All-State quarterback, and was selected the 2019 All-State Wrestler.

Shropshire attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a three-time Dean’s Honor recipient and graduated with a master’s degree.
