Local cattlewomen inspired by next generation
By LaDonna Rhodes Staff Writer

On Thursday, Jan. 23, Ellie Neidel spoke at the Green Country Cattlewomen’s meeting inside the OSU Extension office. Ellie, a student at Oklahoma State University, is studying agricultural education and is the President of the Oklahoma State University Cattlewomen’s Organization. With their theme “From Pasture to Podium: Collegiate Cattlewomen” are cultivating leadership and engaging others to do the same.

At the meeting in McIntosh County, Ellie shared some of her personal journey and the amazing opportunities available for young women in the cattle industry today. “We were incredibly grateful to have had Ellie Neidel as our guest speaker,” Green Country Vice President Spring Morrow said. “Her insights into collegiate cattlewomen were truly inspiring! Ellie recounted how receiving a cow during her high school years sparked her passion for cattle, particularly Simmental cattle. Amazingly this generous act of kindness also motivated her to give back to her community each year by donating at least two head of show cattle to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in showing. What an incredible way to pay it forward for future generations!”

In McIntosh County, the Green Country Cattlewomen keep working together to help advocate and promote the beef cattle industry and to encourage more young ladies to believe in the livestock industry. These dedicated women continue to stand beside their mission to promote efficient production of beef and educate consumers on the nutritional values of beef.

Officers include: Emmy McPeak, President Spring Morrow, Vice President Stacy Glover, 2nd Vice President Penny Mitchell, Treasurer Brenda Miller, Parliamentarian “We strongly encourage all young cattlewomen, especially those in high school, to consider joining this vibrant community of cow lovers,” Morrow said. “It’s a fantastic way to learn, grow, and connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for the cattle industry.

We hope others will join us and become a part of a supportive network that empowers and uplifts all women in agriculture. We want to continue to build a strong future and together with young women like Ellie we believe we are doing that with passion and dedication.

If interested in joining the Green Country Cattlewomen or for more information contact Emmy McPeak at 918-230-0850 or Spring Morrow at 918-4074387.
