Ross named McIntosh County Democrat Coach of the Year

Checotah Wildcat head football coach Zac Ross was named the 2024 McIntosh County Democrat Coach of the Year at the Checotah Sports Banquet on Tuesday.

Ross received the award from McIntosh County Democrat Sports Editor Rodney Haltom.

“Ross led the Wildcats to a win over the Eufaula Ironheads, made the playoffs and finished with a 7-4 record in football. He also was instrumental in the track program where he had two state qualifiers,” Haltom said in his speech.

“It’s truly an honor and very much appreciated. I want to thank Rodney and our coaches and athletes. Football is a team game and it takes a team to win. Thank you,” Ross said in his acceptance speech.
