Candidate filing for Board of Education begins December 2

Candidate filing for the Board of Education begins Monday, Dec. 2, for McIntosh County school districts.

Those who wish to file for a Board of Education office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Mc-Intosh County Election Board December 2, 3 or 4 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at https://oklahoma. gov/elections/candidates/ candidate-filing. html and at the County Election Board.

In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates must also submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which can be obtained from the County Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp.html. Information on the Voter Registration Verification Form must match the information provided on the Declaration of Candidacy.

Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, December 6, 2024 by 5 p.m. and may only be filed by another candidate for that office. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.

If only two candidates file for the same Board of Education seat, those two candidates’ names will appear on the Board of Education General Election ballot on April 1, 2025. If more than two candidates file for the same Board of Education seat, a Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the seat during the Board of Education General Election, Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices: Checotah School District, Independent School District No. 19 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Eufaula School District, Independent School District No. I001 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Hanna School District, Independent School District No. 49 of I-064 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5year term) – Midway School District, Independent School District No. I027 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Ryal Public Schools, Independent School District No. 49 C-003 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Office No. 1 (3-year term) – Stidham School District, Independent School District No. 49 of C016 of McIntosh County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 2 (3year term) Boundaries for the following school districts are partially located in McIntosh County. Candidates may file with the County Election Board of the county wherein supervision of the school district is located or the County Election Board in the county in which the candidate resides.

– Dewar School District, Independent School District No. 56 I-008 of Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5year term) – Graham-Dustin School District, Independent School District No. 56 of Hughes County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 4 (unexpired term expiring 2029) – Graham-Dustin School District, Independent School District No. 56 of Hughes County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Green Country Technology Center School District No. 28 of Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 3 (5-year term) – Henryetta School District, Independent School District No. 2 of Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Henryetta School District, Independent School District No. 2 of Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 2 (unexpired term with four years remaining) – Indian Capital Technology Center School District, Vocational School District No. 4 of Muskogee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Warner School District, Independent School District No. I074 of Muskogee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Weleetka School District, Independent School District No. I-31 of Okfuskee County, Oklahoma, Board Position No. 5 (5-year term) – Wes Watkins Technology Center District 25, Board Member for Zone 2 (5-year term) For more information, contact the Mc-Intosh County Election Board office at (918) 689-2452, email mcintoshcounty@ elections. ok.gov or log on to www.ok.gov/elections. The McIntosh County Election Board is located on the 1st floor of the McIntosh County Courthouse, 110 N 1st Street, Eufaula, OK 74432 and is usually open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. For the week of candidate filing procedures, the County Election Board will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. although the courthouse closes at 4 p.m. and no Notary is available after that time.
