The politics of God vs man

The politics of God vs man

Personally I have never been a big fan of politics on any platform – whether in government or on a personal level. I don’t play well with workplace politics, church politics and even the politics of everyday life. The politics of life seem to be getting more and more out of hand and unfortunately I don’t see a better future coming to America.

I can honestly say that I loathe politics with a passion, mainly because I have seen way too many pursue their own selfish agendas with no regard to how it affects everyone else. In fact, I have seen many leaders fall when they put more emphasis on what they want than what the people need.

Recently, like a lot of people, I’ve been overwhelmed by the craziness going on in this old world. Politicians are making promises that we know they won’t keep and local county politics are also making me sick.

It seems most leaders who become voted into positions, often do so for the power they idolize. Rarely do they look back at the promises they have made to us. They don’t seem to care who put them into office in the first place. Rather than caring about the greater good of the people as a whole body, they often work around agendas that only better themselves.

So this really got me thinking about what moves God versus what moves man?

Man is so easily moved by every wind and doctrine. They are moved and motivated by money and power, but rarely by compassion or convictions.

So what motivates God? I believe God is motivated by a constant desire to have fellowship with man. He wants a relationship with us. He doesn’t just want to know our name. He is compelled to create a place of honesty and intimacy with us. But are we really ready for that next big step? Or are we too wrapped up in the politics of life that keep us far from that relationship with Him?

I see too many people today that are motivated for all the wrong reasons, especially political people who only think about their gain. Their pocketbooks are full, but they lack charity. They demand respect but lack godly character. They hold positions of power but they clearly do not hold up the standard of faith I believe in. They don’t hold the hand or heart of God. They just shake hands with other deceptive people who have the same spirit and character that they possess and keep going down the road to destruction.

So I think I’ll take my chances and keep casting my eternal vote on God Himself, the Creator of all things good and the compassionate friend who sticks closer than a brother. I’ll pray daily to know His heart and watch His plans play out for my benefit as well as His. In the end I want to be on His side and know Him intimately because when it comes to God versus man, I think I’ll go with the One Who already has the upper hand. Amen.
