Warriors defeat Ironheads
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The fight continues for the Eufaula Ironheads (2-6, 1-4 District 3A-3) as the Idabel Warriors dropped another defeat on the Ironheads in a 37-27 Friday night at Paul Bell Stadium on the shores of Lake Eufaula. It was an emotional game as the Ironheads celebrated Senior Night in a pre-game ceremony.

Idabel led 6-0 after missing the PAT. Eufaula found the end zone on the heels of running back Peter Lee to take a 7-6 lead.

It was an exciting and tremendously physical game with both teams playing their hardest. Senior receiver Maddox Bridges was Eufaula’s quarterback Ledger Folsom’s favorite target as Bridges made several key catches that kept offensive drives going.

Eufaula took a 14-13 lead into the halftime break.

Lee continued to run like a deer as he finished with 256 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries.

But it would be great defensive play on the part of the Warriors who turned the tide of the game. Eufaula led 20-19 to start the fourth quarter but their lead would not last as the Warriors outscored Eufaula to seal the district victory.

Folsom had a big night as he was 13-of-18 for 188 yards and an interception and rushed for 34 yards on 11 carries for a touchdown.

Bridges had five receptions for 68 yards.

Aaron Spoehr, Luke Hodgins, Brian Lynn, Carson Luna, Day Day Shine, Blayden Neill, Doltyn Lane and Dresden Chiles had a solid game defensively for Eufaula.

“We have to learn how to finish. That’s been an issue all season. We know the competition is better but are capable of playing at a higher level,” Eufaula head coach Larry Newton said.
