Local salon is in the pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By Shauna Belyeu General Manager,

When K-Mac’s Lavish Looks opened their location in Eufaula, they were excited to provide a multi-cultural salon with new services to the area.

What they discovered was that the services extended well beyond what they had imagined.

Owner, Donna Mock’s daughter, Kimberly McPhearson, the business’s namesake, had developed breast cancer and was undergoing treatment and is now in remission. This was just one of the things that began to spark the beginning of some new ideas of how to better serve their customers with compassion.

The business opened up a room specifically to those who needed a little extra privacy for their services. Customers appreciated the privacy and extra encouragement.

This was a blessing to those undergoing chemotherapy or who had alopecia or other issues.

This is where Vicky David stepped in. David has worked at MD Anderson and in the healthcare field since 2009 but has always had a love for hair care. With a background in healthcare, she is compassionate and truly a dedication to helping others on their personal journeys.

She created and owned Princess Nyboo Hair Growth System which is a full hair system that combats breakage, shedding, hair loss and combats hair issues. She has shipped the product as far as the Virgin Islands.

“As a nurse, I knew that an all-natural, no chemical hair treatment would be great for chemotherapy, radiation and dialysis patients regardless of race, gender or ethnicity,” David said.

She was on a mission to educate, restore and rebuild confidence.

It was not only good for her regular clients but those undergoing treatment.

There was such an atmosphere that some clients even began to come in just for the encouragement and support.

K-Mac’s is honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating pink turbans to the first 50 clients in need as well as other products to help make the best out of a difficult situation.

From diverse cuts and braids and a barber who comes in twice a week to skincare by KenRitt Beauty, the team is committed to beautifying and improving the selfesteem of all their cli-ents in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

“It is so satisfying to help people be their best,” David said.

The team at K-Mac’s Lavish Looks celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month last week with cupcakes and pink products to help encourage those undergoing the journey.

Their mission is “Beauty comes in all shades.”

For October, that also includes pink.
