I want to invite my friends to Church – how can I do that better?

I think that it is wonderful that you want someone to go to Church with you. You will find that most people start attending a Church because a friend invited them. However, let me give you something to think about. There is something more important than just having them in Church. That thing is sharing your personal relationship with Christ with them. I want to see people attending my Church, but I want them to know Christ more. I believe that most Christians are uncomfortable sharing Jesus with other people and we think if we get them to Church someone else will do it for us. Please let me encourage you that God has given you the ability to share His transforming love with others. We live in a relational age, where people need personal connections that go beyond a Church service.

Here are some questions that can help prepare you share.

1) Why did I accept Christ?

2) Why do I attend Church? 3) What difference has it made? These questions frame your personal testimony. Every believer has one and should be able to share it at any time. I hope that encourages you to share Jesus with the people you know. I know that God will bless you!

Also remember to pray for them and do everything in your power to be welcoming and inviting. Many people are hesitant to step into a Church. Having a friend to help you feel comfortable on that first Sunday (and following Sundays) is vital.

Finally, it is a privilege to share Jesus with people but it a privilege that we earn by genuinely caring about them, praying for them and serving them. This is not something that can be rushed. It is our blessing to bring people to Jesus as we see in John 1:40-42 – “ Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.”

We would love to meet you and your friends at First Baptist Church of Eufaula!

Our FBC Wednesday Night activities for all ages start at 6 p.m. Small group Bible studies meet each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. and our Worship service begins at 10 a.m.
