Checotah trucker Buck Crombie’s second annual Lakeside Large Car Truck Show took place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23 and 24 at Xtreme RV Resort.

More than $8,000 raised by last year’s event went to the Shop With A Cop Christmas shopping spree for needy youngsters.

This year the funds will go to Bedouin Shriners – Helping Shriners Help Kids.

It was a fun-filled two days of activities for truckers who came from Oklahoma and many surrounding states to participate in the event, which included a convoy, meetand- greet and all-day truck show on Friday and on Saturday an allday show, an awards ceremony, dinner and concert, featuring Tony Justice.

Following the 2024 event, Crombie announced plans are already underway for the 2024 Lakeside Large Car Truck Show.

“THANK YOU Eufaula, Xtreme and Tony Justice for the location and concert. We appreciate everyone of the vendors and trucking businesses for coming to support us.

“But most of all, THANK YOU to every one of the drivers, owner operators and trucking companies that are out there everyday on the roads making the world turn.

“Without these men and women we’d all be homeless, naked and hungry. They work harder than most people know to deliver your world. But they will pull in off the road, wash, wax, polish and shine them trucks and gather up for a good time.

“THANK YOU! This year’s proceeds are going to the Bedouin Shrine. We greatly appreciate those men and women who came to be a part of the show. They served the dinner and made their presence in the parade.

“These guys work tirelessly for their cause, which is the Shriners Children’s Hospitals. Amazing care for kids all over the country at no cost to the kids or families. Shriners take care of these kids and we are honored to be able to help them.

“It was hot, it was dusty, but it was a HUGE SUCCESS and we truly appreciate every single one of you.
