Organizers of the Vision Eufaula Wine & Art Festival are inviting artists of all ages, including kids 12 and under, to enter this year’s art competition.
More than 30 adult artists have entered this year’s event, and more are expected before the event that takes place Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The adult artists are vying for $500 for first place, $300 second and $200 third place. Three judges will determine the winners.
Youngsters are competing for $100 for first, $60 second and $40 third.
One of this year’s main events will be a paint-by-thenumber sketch by artist Jack Fowler, who last year created similar canvases of the Selmon brothers and several notable figures from Eufaula’s past, said Lynnsey deMontigny, festival spokesman.
This year, Fowler will sketch a paint-by-the-number canvas of JC Watts.
Folks who want to try their hands at being an artist can purchase a section of the canvas, or the entire canvas.

For $1,000, individuals, or businesses, may become artists for a day and paint the pictures, following the numbers assigned by Fowler.
Paint-by-the-numbers is a community project, not a project for one painter.
“This will be a lot of fun,” Karen Weldin said. “And it will get people in the community and businesses involved.”
Another anticipated art project is a mural. However, the mural’s location has not been determined at press time. Work on the mural will begin a couple of weeks after the festival.
The artist will be Alex Eickhoff of Kansas City, MO, who created the bass mural on the north side of Sonny’s grocery store in Eufaula in 2022.
Kids should have a blast at the festival, where a section of land next to the main area of the festival is being set aside for the youngsters.
In addition to art competition, there will be bounce houses, inflatables, balloon art, train rides and more.
Adults should have a blast as well, according to deMontigny.
In addition to artists at work or simply on hand to sell their creations, four bands will perform; there will be five food trucks, four samples from wineries and three breweries and trolley rides to visit all of the murals that adorn the town.
