Community Baby Shower Sept. 26

A Drive Through Community Baby Shower will take place on Sept. 26 from 5-7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Eufaula, 400 Foley.

McIntosh County Coalition for a Healthy Community (McCoCo), a group of dedicated service providers from the area, are coming together to host this event.

This baby shower has been a cherished tradition, held every other year prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. “In the past we’ve held this event in person, and our community volunteers created decorative baskets including clothing and all kinds of goodies for families to take home for door prizes. They also decorated the event space with baby clothing and balloons. They pour their hearts into donating baby quilts, receiving blankets, and other handmade items like burp cloths or bibs. It’s incredibly heartwarming for new parents to feel the embrace of the community as they welcome their new babies,” said Dawn Edwards, Outreach Committee Chair for McCoco.

Everyone is invited to join in and support the community baby shower by generously donating the suggested items.

“Your kindness will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the families in our community. It really makes new parents feel like the community supports them and their new babies,” Edwards said.

Any businesses or individuals who might be interested in making a donation or purchasing larger ticket items, please call Kim Woodruff, at Under One Roof, (918) 689-7505 to coordinate.

If you would like to help, scan the QR code for the Amazon Baby Registry and your donation will be delivered to Under One Roof, or you may drop your donations off at one of our donation boxes at the Eufaula Area Chamber of Commerce, Under One Roof or Lake Eufaula Christian Church.

Donations accepted from now through Sept. 1.

Suggested items for donation Diapers, wipes, shampoo, body wash, lotion, burp cloths, wash cloths, towels and teething rings.

Also, socks, toothbrushes, combs/hair brushes, sippy cups, cups with straws, toddler utensils, receiving blankets and bulb syringes.
