Need a brother or sister? You got it!

From the very beginning, humanity has thrived on connection. In the book of Genesis, God created Adam and declared, “It is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). This profound statement emphasizes the inherent need for companionship and community.

The church, often referred to as the “body of Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:27), is more than just a gathering of individuals. It is a family where people from diverse backgrounds come together under the common umbrella of faith. Just as a family provides love, support, and a sense of belonging, so does the church. At Lake Eufaula Christian Church, we love to provide opportunities for our people to gather in fellowship. A couple of those opportunities are happening this weekend.

Once a month on a Saturday, our “Men of Faith” meet for breakfast. The food is always great! But the truth is, Men need Brothers. Our enemy, the devil, hates families and will do anything to destroy them. As Men of Faith, it is our honor to minister to guys all across Eufaula and the surrounding area who are dealing with temptation, skeletons from their past, broken marriages, hurting families, and needing the kind of spiritual encouragement and discipleship to help them to suit up with the armor of God each day.

This Saturday at 8am, in the kitchen of LECC, you will not only eat a fantastic breakfast, but you will hear God’s word spoken, studied and discussed. You will see hearts poured out, prayers lifted, and spiritual support given. You will also see genuine joy from smiling faces. Do you need a brother? You’d have a band of them to support you. Our Men of Faith know that it is a privilege and a blessing to build relationships with others who might be struggling. None of us are perfect, but together we serve a perfect God. And through the love of Christ, we love to help bear each other’s burdens.

Also, on the second Sunday of each month, our “Sisters in Christ” stay after the worship service to enjoy a potluck meal and discuss the latest chapter in whatever they’re studying at the time. This coming Sunday, August 11, two topics will be explored: Faith to Grow On and Hope Flames. Romans 5:5 tells us, “New hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Any woman burdened by problems weighing on her soul is invited to stay after church for help resolving them. Hear how other women have overcome perhaps what you’re going through right now.

If you’re a visitor, hurrah! Do NOT bring food. The ladies’ potluck, which each month features a particular theme , will be “competing casseroles.” Be warned! Many LECC ladies are spectacular cooks, so you might put on a couple of pounds!

The ladies’ luncheons are coordinated by Julie Huff and Christy Helms, sisters with the same parents as well as Sisters in Christ, a group which sometimes has wonderful field trips. Last year more than thirty—after studying the book of Esther— took an overnight trip to see an outstanding production of Esther at the Sight and Sound Theatre in Branson. And plans are being discussed for a similar venture this winter.

It doesn’t matter where you are in your walk of faith. Men need Bros. Ladies need Sisters. Plan to join the men on Saturday or the women on Sunday, and your life just might find the companionship it needed all along! Have a wonderful week!

God Bless You!
