Billy Haltom Honored with State Partner in 4-H Award

On July 25, at the Oklahoma State 4-H Round Up in Stillwater, 4-H celebrated a remarkable achievement with the recognition of Billy Haltom for his outstanding contributions to youth development. Haltom was awarded the prestigious State Partner in 4-H Award for his dedicated service and leadership at the state 4H Honors Banquet.

Haltom is known for his humility and unwavering commitment to the community, has been a pivotal figure in fostering a strong partnership between Oklahoma 4-H and the Muscogee Nation Agriculture Youth Program as well as youths in McIntosh and Okmulgee counties.

“I was truly humbled but at the same time, I truly enjoyed being able to represent the Muscogee Nations Agriculture Youth Program and all the good things we are able to accomplish through this program,” Haltom remarked.

Throughout his tenure, Haltom has been a constant presence at livestock camps, fairs, goat shows, archery events, and outdoor camps, always championing the welfare and development of young participants. His dedication to mentoring youth extends beyond activities; he is known for his ability to build confidence and leadership skills among the youth he works with.

“Billy is all about the kids, the way it should be,” commented a colleague. “He has a wealth of knowledge that he is gracious in sharing to build strong leaders, humble kids, and a community that ‘makes the best better.’” The recognition ceremony, attended by Oklahoma State 4-H officials including Dr. Damona Doye, Dr. Jayson Lusk, and Dr. Steve Beck, highlighted Haltom’s profound impact on the community. Surrounded by a supportive delegation of family and friends, Haltom accepted the award with gratitude.

“We are so proud of Billy and his leadership in Ag Youth for Okmulgee County,” expressed a local organizer. “His willingness to help and his wisdom in working with the county are unparalleled.”

Beyond his involvement in youth activities, Haltom has played a crucial role in securing grants that support edu- cational initiatives benefiting Okmulgee County’s youth, demonstrating his commitment to their future.

“Billy is a humble man of integrity,” a colleague stated. “His heart is for the kids, this county, and the Muscogee Nation. He is the best partner anyone could ask for.”

In honoring Billy Haltom with the State Partner in 4-H Award, 4-H recognizes not only his exceptional contributions but also his embodiment of the organization’s values of leadership, service, and community. His impact resonates deeply, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless young individuals in the community.
