Paws N Claws starts second food drive
By LaDonna Rhodes Staff Writer,

Paws N Claws volunteers are still working hard in their communities to help fight animal abuse and abandonment and are kicking off their second pet food drive.

In the past six months, Paws N Claws, along with several followers, has rescued all the dogs placed in the Eufaula pound and has even helped several local abandoned ani- mals find “fur-ever” homes. Paws N Claws has also given away dog food and cat food to several rescues and others in need.

“We are thrilled to be a part of concerned communities that are making a difference in their areas and rescuing one pup at a time,” Powell-Fells said. “We have had a lot of help from different individuals who have done their part to help ease the suffering of abandoned and abused dogs in our area.”

One local Renee Duke has offered to donate $100 for each new wedding she books at An Event At Duke Farms until December 31 of this year. She also donated $50 towards one rescue that needed neutered and now has been adopted by a great couple in Hennessey.

Powell-Fells and her daughter, Olivia Powell-Shackelford, have been working extra hard this summer making adorable bracelets to sell. They also have lots of cute animal earrings priced at $10 each piece. ALL the proceeds go back into Paws N Claws to help with pound fees, pet food, puppy shots/ wormer, etc.

“We have lots of cute jewelry with different dog breeds and cats, also some with paw prints at BB Boutique in Eufaula and Slice of Country in Checotah,” Powell-Fells said. “Any animal lover can buy these earrings or bracelets and wear them with pride knowing they are helping local animals in their area through our organization and other organizations that we partner with in our area. We will also have some jewelry in the LEA office in Eufaula soon.”

“Right now we are starting a second pet food drive for our rescues in the pound and to help those in our community who are taking on the task of fostering these abandoned animals. We know it takes a village to raise a child and it also takes an involved community to make a difference every day in the lives of all of these sweet fur babies. So we are thankful for all the help we can get.”

To donate dog food or cat food to Paws N Claws please call 479422-4210 or 918-6183810 or drop off food at the McIntosh County Democrat or Eufaula Indian Journal.
