Betty Jones

Betty Jones, 90, of Eufaula, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at her home. Betty was born on March 25, 1934, to Silva and Dora (Biles) Cantwell. She graduated from Onapa High School in 1952.

On May 29, 1952, Betty married Kenneth “Pee Wee” Jones in Onapa, Oklahoma.

They were happily married for almost 62 years and raised three children together, before he preceded her in death on May 13, 2014. They owned and operated Tastee Freeze for over 18 years.

Betty worked as a teacher’s aide at Dixie Elementary. She also worked at the courthouse in the Treasurer’s Office during tax season and volunteered on the McIntosh County Election Board.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she also worked in the nursery. She loved to cook and always made family dinners special for everyone. Betty also loved animals, especially her backyard birds.

Survivors include: her children: Ronnie Jones, of Eufaula; Tony Jones and wife Sherri, of Yukon; Joe Ray Jones and wife Pam, of Eufaula; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Silva and Dora Cantwell; husband, Kenneth “Pee Wee” Jones; sister, Faye Lloyd; and two brothers: Marvin Cantwell and Norman Cantwell and a daughter-in-law, Karen.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Mike Scifres officiating. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah under the direction of Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
