New pastor at First United Methodist
By Rev. Michelle McCarty,

The Eufaula First United Methodist Church is pleased to introduce Rev. Michelle McCarty, who will begin her full-time ministry on June 30.

We invite everyone to join us for worship on Sunday morning at 11. The church is located at 251 Matthews Lane just north of the cemetery but before you get to Love’s.

Rev. McCarty comes to Eufaula after serving the Konawa and Wanette United Methodist Churches.

She previously served at St. Mark’s/Aldergate in Tulsa, Cordell, Hunter/ Jefferson, Lawton, McLoud, and Calumet/ Red Rock.

Rev. McCarty earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in 2002 at Oklahoma City University and her Master’s of Divinity in 2006 at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She was ordained as an elder in full connection in 2009.

From 1990-2002, Rev. McCarty served as coordinator of Care Ministries at the United Methodist Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. Her duties included coordinating volunteers in pastoral care, counseling, spiritual growth and healing ministries as well as recruiting and training volunteers for support teams and assisting in crisis needs for individuals and communities during both natural and human-made disasters.

She has extensive leadership training including “Creating a Culture of Renewal” which she continues to be involved in and hopes to bring to Eufaula UMC.

Other training includes being a Transitional Intentional Interim Ministry Specialist and a volunteer for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

In addition, she has specialized studies in international, interfaith, reconciliation, renewal, and social justice including training at Cambridge University in England; Belfast, Ireland; Taize, France and Israel where she attended the Palestinian/Israeli Peace Talks in 2006.
