Spring Morrow

State Representative Dist. 15

Political Party: Republican Hometown: Cache Current Town: Checotah Education: College Degree Age: 42 Candidate Background: Case Management Society of America Member, Second Term Board Member for Eastern Ok Case Management Society of America, Oklahoma Cattlewomen’s Association Member, Vice President of the Eastern Oklahoma Cattlewomen’s Association, Eufaula VFW Auxiliary Post 8798 Member, Eufaula Chamber of Commerce Member, National Rifle Association of America Member, Care Providers Leadership Academy Graduate 2023 University of Oklahoma Moore Norman Technology Diakonos Group, LLC – Director of Business Development, Sales and Marketing 5.5 years Spring Morrow, a resident of Checotah, Oklahoma, was raised with strong values and a solid work ethic. Her lifelong dedication to serving others has inspired her to pursue a career in politics. Spring is married to Monty Morrow, a retired First Sergeant of the United States Army, and together they operate a small cattle business. They have four children and two grandsons. Spring was raised in the foster system and graduated as a ward of the State of Oklahoma. Her Aunt Rose welcomed her and her sister into her home when she was eleven, providing them with love and support that enabled them to attend college and become successful members of society. Spring advocates for improving resources for displaced children and believes that investing in the youth’s foundation can lead to successful and productive young adults. She has been actively working at the state level to ensure that aging adults in Oklahoma receive the care they deserve, believing that the most vulnerable members of society should have access to quality care. Spring is a true Oklahoman and has been recognized as an Amazing Oklahoman for her dedication to addressing ethical healthcare and financial concerns in the State of Oklahoma. Spring will work towards putting Oklahoman’s first in the State House!

1. Have you ever failed to pay any taxes or court ordered judgements? No

2. Have you ever been convicted of a felony? No

What are the top three messages of your campaign?

1. We need better access to quality healthcare services in general and mental health services. We need to lessen restrictions on our Nurse Practitioners and provide them with the support they need instead of making it more difficult to provide care. I want our aging adults, Oklahoma’s most Vulnerable, to receive the proper care they deserve as well.

2. I want our Veterans to not have to wait to receive services that they rightfully deserve. The Oklahoma Veterans Affairs does not provide the same services as other states, for example the Hazelwood Act. This benefit provides eligible veterans with up to 150 credit hours of tuition exemption at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This benefit is not available to Oklahoma Veterans. Oklahoma Veterans also lack comprehensive mental health support, job training and placement programs, and affordable housing options tailored for veterans and their families.

3. I want to see our youth become productive members of society and support them as they go through the educational system by giving them the tools they need to ensure that success. I stand behind our Vocational Tech programs and giving students an alternative to higher education. It is crucial that we work towards providing students with comprehensive support services prior to graduation, such as academic counseling, career guidance, and access to resources. By addressing students’ needs early on and helping them to develop the necessary skills and knowledge, we can help ensure their success in the future. I do want to say that as a foster kid and graduating as a ward of the state, it is possible for our foster kids to be just as successful. We just need to stand behind the families and offer support that is valuable to the students growth and development.

What are the top three most pressing issues facing rural Oklahoma? How would you address these issues if elected?

1. Access to quality healthcare services- I will advocate for policies and funding that prioritize access to quality healthcare services. Rural area residents, including veterans, deserve to have access to a wide range of healthcare services, including mental healthcare options. We also need to increase our funding to care for our most vulnerable, our aging adults. By improving access to quality healthcare in rural areas, we can help improve the overall well-being and quality of life for all residents.

2. Infrastructure development and maintenance- It is crucial for ensuring the well-being and development of these communities. Working with the local County Commissioners and knowing what they need will be vital. This includes maintaining roads, bridges, water systems, and other essential infrastructure to support the daily lives of rural residents. Proper infrastructure and maintenance play a key role in economic development, as businesses rely on reliable infrastructure to operate efficiently. This will also enhance the quality of life for rural residents by providing access to essential services such as healthcare and education. Investing in infrastructure and maintenance for rural areas is essential for growth and sustainability of our communities.

3. Economic Growth and development- This includes creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and investing in infrastructure to attract new businesses. It also includes promoting entrepreneurship, providing access to resources and funding, and fostering a business-friendly environment to stimulate economic growth.

How will I address these issues if elected? As your next State Representative, I will personally take action by advocating for policies that prioritize access to quality healthcare services, infrastructure development and maintenance, and economic development opportunities for rural Oklahomans. This may involve working with other lawmakers to pass legislation that supports these initiatives, collaborating with local stakeholders to identify specific needs and solutions and engaging with community members to understand their concerns and priorities. Additionally, I will use my platform to raise awareness about these issues and work towards implementing sustainable solutions that benefit rural communities in the long term.

Explain your positions on economic development as it pertains to rural Oklahoma in general and Eastern Oklahoma in particular.

We should focus on promoting small business growth, investing in infrastructure improvements and supporting industries that are unique to the region such as agriculture and tourism. This approach will help create jobs, attract investment, and stimulate economic development. It is important to have policies that support local agriculture and avoid unnecessary government restrictions that could harm small farmers in the region. My husband and I are small farmers, so we understand why this is so vital. Thank you!
