Cowgirl Softball earns No. 5 national seed for NCAA Tournament, hosts regional with Kentucky, Michigan and Northern Colorado

The Oklahoma State softball team was announced as the No. 5 national seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls host Kentucky, Michigan and Northern Colorado in the Stillwater regional played in Cowgirl Stadium this weekend.

Action starts Friday at 2 p.m. CT when Kentucky faces Michigan. OSU and Northern Colorado are scheduled to meet at 4:30 p.m. CT.

Should OSU advance through the regional, then the Cowgirls would host the winner of the Fayetteville regional that includes No. 12 seed Arkansas, Arizona, Villanova and Southeast Missouri State in a best-of-three super regional the following weekend with a spot at the Women’s College World Series on the line.

The Stillwater regional is one of 16 held across the country this weekend, each of which involves four teams. The schedule for the Stillwater regional:

Oklahoma State (ESPN+)

Saturday, May 18

Game 3 – Noon CT – Winner G1 vs. Winner G2 Game 4 – 2:30 p.m. CT Loser G1 vs. Loser G2 Game 5 – 5 p.m. CT – Winner G4 vs. Loser G3

Sunday, May 19

Game 6 – Time TBD Winner G3 vs. Winner G5 Game 7 – Time TBD Winner G6 vs. Loser G6 (if necessary) This marks the fifth consecutive season in which Oklahoma State earned the right to host an NCAA Regional and the fourth straight season in which the Cowgirls secured a top-eight national seed. In each of the four previous seasons, OSU advanced to the Women’s College World Series. This year’s No. 5 national seed matches 2021 for the best in program history.

This is OSU’s eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Softball Championship and its 26th appearance all time. Eight consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament is the second-longest streak in program history, trailing only the record mark of 11 set from 1988-98.

Stillwater Regional Ticket Information

Oklahoma State softball season ticket holders have until Monday, May 13 to pay for tickets in their Paciolan account. You should have received an email last week stating your invoice/renewal application was ready. Cards will be charged Monday morning. Any remaining all-session ticket locations (reserved or bleacher) go on sale to the public starting at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13. Any unsold locations and standing room only tickets will be available on a single session basis online or at the ticket hut beginning one hour prior to first pitch of each game.
