What is the source of right and wrong?

Q and A with Pastor J.

If you study people, you will realize that we have an almost unlimited capacity to rationalize. Culturally, Americans have become increasingly flexible in their idea of what is right and what is wrong. We have seen our idea of morality become increasingly blurred and hard to define. It makes me think, is something right because I think it is right? Is something wrong because I think that it is wrong?

There is a danger in basing morality in ourselves. We can fail, we are inconsistent, we are capable or great good and grievous harm. We need to look somewhere else to understand right and wrong. That place is God.

God has revealed to us His standard in His book, the Bible.

The Bible teaches us that God is the one who determines what is right or wrong. His Word cuts deep as it exposes who we really are. It exposes our inability to never be good enough or right enough. His Word also gives us great hope as it introduces us to Jesus. The Bible shows us that we are to be judged by God’s standard and not our own.

First Baptist Church is a place to find answers to questions like these. You are welcome to visit and be a part of our Fellowship.

First Baptist Church is located at the corner of 4th and Foley. Morning Bible Study begins at 8:45 a.m., with our Morning Worship Service at 10 a.m. Our Wednesday Night programs begin at 6 p.m. I would also invite you to visit our website at www.eufaulafbc.org.

Know that you are loved! Pastor J. – First Baptist Church of Eufaula
