A project started to provide inspiration to the church’s Brothers in Christ Devotional and Prayer Group expanded into a blessing for all who came to Lake Eufaula Christian Church Easter Sunday.

Every family, individual member, and guest walked away with a handmade, uniquely designed cross lovingly made by Randy Adams and decorated by Eric Sutherland.

Realizing they could channel their talents and bless more people with the hope-filled symbol of Christ’s sacrificial death, they started a five-month project of searching and finding varieties of exotic wood, which Adams made into crosses and Sutherland embellished with digitally printed designs and messages.

Presenting their Cross Project to the crowd enjoying Easter Feaster brunch before the worship service, Adams said, “My goal was just to give back to my church family. I love you all, and I love this awesome church. My life has been changed here, like other men and women. So, I thank you for being a huge part of my life.”

Sutherland echoed the sentiment saying, “God has been so good to me and my family. This is just a small way that I can say thank you to Him and thank you to the people I worship the Lord with every week.”

They invited every church family to choose from the huge selection, and the supply was so bountiful that guests also received a cross to take home and revere.

“Whether you hang these crosses on the wall or use them to sit or stand, they are meant to be a reminder that no matter what you deal with…anger, lust, greed, or any sin, you can look to the cross, knowing that Jesus died for that sin, “ said Adams “You can pray about it, and the Lord can remind you that you’re richly loved, empowered, and given a clean slate of forgiveness.”

The presentation of the crosses was followed by worship in the sanctuary that was projected to the overflow crowd in the church’s gymnasium. Leftover crosses will be given to church members who were out of town this Easter Sunday and to families having a celebration of life at LECC.
