University of Oklahoma approves Patty Gasso statue and raises for coaches
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR,

The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved donations for a statue for softball coach Patty Gasso. The statue will be unveiled later this season outside Gate 1 at Love’s Field.

Gasso has led the Sooners to seven national titles in 29 seasons in Norman and has reached the Women’s College World Series 16 times.

The board also approved new OU defensive coordinator Zac Alley’s contract and adjustments to defensive line coach Todd Bates and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh’s contracts Tuesday.

Alley’s contract is through 2027 and he will make $850,000 in his first season with the Sooners.

Bates, whose raise was first reported by 247Sports on Feb. 29, will keep his current three-year contract and will make $800,000 this season.

Bedenbaugh received a massive three-year contract extension. He’ll make $1.05 million in 2024 up from 820,000 last season.
