Frank William Gallyer

July 30, 1933 – Feb. 21, 2024

Frank William Gallyer, former Eufaula resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born Sunday, July 30, 1933, to Herbert and Mable (Thorton) Gallyer in Fresno, California. Frank grew up in Fresno and graduated from Washington Union High School in 1951.

He joined the United States Navy and was on the USS Sproston. He served 4 years before his honorable discharge. After his time in the military, Frank worked in a shipyard in San Diego and worked on a ranch. He also worked for a manufacturing company, Fruehauf Corporation.

Frank married Emma Nelson on September 26, 1982, in Las Vegas. He retired in 1991 and moved to Arkansas, eventually, moving to Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of DAV and VFW in Eufaula. Frank was also a member of the First Christian Church where he sang bass in the choir.

He was a very likeable person, very friendly and was very loved by his family. Frank will be missed by all that loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth.

Frank is lovingly survived by his wife of 42 years, Emma (Nelson) Gallyer of the home; son, Gary Grider and wife Marilou of Crestview, Florida; son, Steve Grider of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Deborah and Heath Grider of Florida; greatgranddaughter Ryliegh Moran of Florida; sister, Hazel Torres. He is also survived by other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

A memorial graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. David Bright ministering.

Military Honors were rendered by the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
