First-ever Shamrock Shindig coming to OKC while honoring John Wayne’s granddaughter

It’s not another gala. It’s not a ball. It’s the firstever Shamrock Shindig and it will be held at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City on Thursday, March 14, 2024. This is not your typical event or fundraiser. The purpose of the evening is to honor the 2024 Grand Marshal of the Oklahoma City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Anita La Cava Swift, the oldest of John Wayne’s 27 grandchildren. The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Center of Family Love in Okarche and the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral in Oklahoma City. The latter organization was selected by Ms. Swift and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation for the services it provides to pediatric cancer patients and their families in Oklahoma.

During the Shindig, Ms. Swift will entertain guests with fun stories about growing up with her famous grandfather; his movie, The Quiet Man, with Maureen O’Hara; and her volunteer work with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and John Wayne Enterprises. This will be a very unique opportunity to get to know Ms. Swift who works tirelessly to continue the work her grandfather started preserving the culture and traditions of the Western way of life. She does this, in part, through her work as a Board member of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and as a Wayne family ambassador at many Western award ceremonies and celebrations.

The evening will include a cocktail hour, food stations, open bar, photo booth, and dancing to music provided by The Bottom of the Barrel bluegrass band. There will also be some one-of-a-kind live auction items to bid on, including something extra special from the John Wayne family (revealed the night of the event).

Certain events sponsorships include a private meet and greet with Ms. La Cava Swift prior to event. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets, making a donation, or being a sponsor can go to one of the following web sites: https:// centeroffamilylove.org/ shamrock/ or https:// www.tobykeithfoundation. org/events-news/ events
