Named the Oklahoma State recipient of the 2024 Heisman Scholarship

Checotah senior standout swimmer Elisabeth Ortiz has qualified for the OSSAA State Swim meet this weekend. Ortiz has been the cornerstone of the Wildcats’ swim team. Ortiz was also named the Oklahoma State Female recipient of the 2024 Heisman Scholarship.

Ortiz placed 12th in the 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 30.75 seconds. She also placed 9th in the 100 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:10.65 in the Class 5A East Regional.

Ortiz is on pace to graduate with over 30 hours of college credits. She is also the Student Body President and holds officer positions in multiple organizations and should graduate at the top of her class as Valedictorian. Elisabeth is the daughter of Stephen and Elisa Ortiz.
