Sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
By LIBRARIAN AMANDA GRANTHAM COURTESY,

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is spreading across Oklahoma and coming to our community! Save the Date for our launch event at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 16 at the library.

During the launch party, families can enroll their children and then receive their first books. The reading program is a way to get books into the hands of children, ages birth to 5 years and help develop early in life a love for reading.

Friends of the Eufaula Memorial Library have partnered with East Central Electric Coop and the Checotah Chamber of Commerce to bring the reading initiative to McIntosh County.

Is your New Year’s resolution to get in shape? We can help you with that at the library. Every Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. we have S.A.I.L. class, which stands for Staying Active and Independent for Life. The class helps older adults with flexibility, balance, and strength, lasts about an hour, and you can move at your own pace.

Selby Minner will be back at the library giving guitar lessons beginning January 9 at 4 a.m. This program is for all ages from beginners to intermediate. Minner is a Blues Hall of Fame member and dedicates her time to the members of our community every year to share her musical skills.

We would like to thank the community who provide support through donations, visiting the library and attending programs, and for using the resources that are available through the library.

We would also like to thank the Friends of the Eufaula Memorial Library (FEML) for their financial support and active participation in building these kinds of programs. FEML is looking for new members to join and continue to help build the library. Their next monthly program luncheon is 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 19. Contact President Gail Rose at member.FEML@gmail. com to join.

Last but definitely not least, we appreciate the support of the Eufaula Chamber of Commerce for always reaching out and the city of Eufaula for the consistent effort to beautify the library.

Please visit and follow us on Facebook or visit our website at eols.org/ eufaula for other events and activities.

Amanda Grantham is a librarian at Eufaula Memorial Library, a branch of the Eastern Oklahoma Library System.
