SOAR donates $10,000 to Youth Emergency Shelter

The Southeastern Oklahoma Association of REALTORS raised $10,000 for the Youth Emergency Shelter at the 10th Annual Spaghetti Dinner & Bingo event.

SOAR members, affiliates and many others in the community donated gifts to give away as bingo prizes during the fund raiser.

“We gave away a 6-inch 4K Smart TV, Kayak, Pit Boss Smoker, Yeti Cooler and many other prizes and over $3,000 worth of gift cards,” said Connie Campbell, of Campbell Due Real Estate.

Making the presentation were Campbell, Bill Chaney, Claudia Young and Shirley Donaldson.

Italian Chef Andy Stinebrickner prepared the traditional Italian meal with homemade sauce that simmered all afternoon along with “big, yummy meatballs.”

Other cooks in the kitchen included Connie Morris, Evelyn Gulley, Janet Mahan and Kathyrn Hubbard.

“Eufaula’s VFW Post 8798 graciously supports the event each year,” Campbell said.

Over 200 people were fed at the event.

This project was originally the brainchild of local Realtor, Susan Ellison.

“The first year we raised $2,500 for the Youth Emergency Shelter,” Campbell said.

The Southeastern Oklahoma Association of Realtors was lucky enough to have an affiliate lender, Madonna Rolens-Daniels, that chaired the event for the next year.

After she relocated out of this area, Campbell and Chaney have been co-chairs of the event.

“Because of the generosity of our community, Eufaula, Checotah, Muskogee and McAlester, we were able to donate $10,000 this year to the Youth Emergency Shelter to assist them in taking care of children in McIntosh and Pittsburg counties,” Campbell said.
