Results of an investigation involving a Eufaula Middle School administrator, who is also a high school football assistant coach, have been turned over to the district attorney’s office for further investigation, according to Police Chief David Bryning.

Bryning and School Superintendent Monty Guthrie declined to identify by name the administrator involved, who has been placed on administrative leave pending outcome of the investigation, but the only person fitting the description is Middle School Principal Jeremy Gragg, who is defensive coordinator for the Ironheads.

The altercation allegedly took place between Coach Gragg and a student in the field house following football practice on Nov. 2.

Guthrie stated in a Nov. 6 press release that there was an allegation of excessive force used in the restraint of a student, which prompted the investigation.

Bryning said High School Resource Officer Mike Harris, who is also an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigator, was the primary investigator in the case for the department.

“Officer Harris has contacted and interviewed all involved parties and recorded their statements,” Bryning said. “On Nov. 9 our Department met with the Mclntosh County District Attorney’s office and discussed the findings.

“The case and all documentation are being turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for their review and findings. Since this is an ongoing investigation that also involves juveniles, we cannot comment further on this matter.”
