Q and A with Pastor J.

Jesus said a lot of things that are hard to swallow. I will try to address one of them in this article.

The first I would like to talk about is found in Matthew 5:29, “If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

Wow, Jesus tells us to love obeying God enough to be willing to lose an eye. I don’t think that Jesus is literally telling us to gouge out our eyes, but to love God more than our physical body.

Christ is always pulling us into a deeper relationship with Him. That relationship demands that we give up everything, even our lives. This is a hard thing. We need to examine ourselves to see if we love Christ more than we love ourselves. We also need to examine ourselves to see if we are following the Jesus of the Bible and not a Jesus of our own creation.
