A 45-year-old Chouteau man charged with raping a 16-year-old girl on two different occasions in McIntosh County is being held at the Mayes County in Pryor awaiting extradition.
Jeffrey Wayne Brinsfield, an alleged sex offender, reportedly attacked the girl on Sept. 9 and again on Sept. 10 as she walked through her neighborhood in the Emerald Bay community west of Checotah.McIntosh County Investigator Dalton Thomas, Deputy Seth Morgan, District Attorney Investigator Kevin Branscum and the FBI arrested Brinsfield at his residence in Mayes County a few days later.
He was booked into Mayes County Correctional Facility and is being held for McIntosh County. McIntosh County District Attorney’s office filed criminal charges on Brinsfield on Sept. 14, charging him with two counts of rape in the first degree, by force or fear. His current bond is $1 million.
Detective Thomas, in a probable cause affidavit filed at the Mc-Intosh County Courthouse, said the victim told him she was walking through her neighborhood at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 when she came to a black van with the suspect in the driver’s seat.
The victim said she was ordered to get into the van, which she did, and she was raped.
She attempted to scream, but he began choking her, according to the report.
The next day, at about 11:20 a.m., she was again walking through the neighborhood and saw the same van parked at the same location.
Thomas said the girl told him the suspect threatened her mother and father if she didn’t get into the van, which she did.
A neighbor taped the van on a security camera.
The victim identified her attacker by a photo lineup.
Thomas learned during the investigation that Brinsfield was a registered sex offender in Mayes County, however, was not up to date on his registration.
