Gloria Jean Pendley, 82, of Beggs, passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023 at her home. Gloria was born on Nov. 11, 1940 in Bakersfield, California to Ernest Jesse and Lizabeth Pauline (Morrison) Best. She attended school in Hanna, Oklahoma.
On Aug. 25, 1958, Gloria married James William Pendley. They were happily married for almost 34 years before he preceded her in death in May 1992.
She worked for 20 years as a baker at Bama Pies, from 1976 until 1996. Gloria also took care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in the garden with her flowers. Gloria was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her children: Brenda J. Kropat, of Tomball, Texas; Linda K. Taylor, of Tulsa, Okla.; Sherry L. Sprattler, of Tulsa, Okla.; and Dakota J. Hamilton, of Beggs, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Chester H. Best, of Tomball, Texas and Ernest G. Best and wife Bennie, of Eufaula, Okla.; and sister, Claudette Barnes, of Toppenish, Wash.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lizabeth Best (Spears).
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. A wake service was held at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 at the Kelley Memorial Chapel.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at the Hanna Cemetery under the direction of Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
