First day of school Aug. 17

The 2023-2024 school year for the Eufaula Public School District begins on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Teachers will return on Monday, Aug. 14 for three days of professional development.

Parents of all returning students are reminded that they need to access and complete the enrollment forms on the Student Records Portal through WenGage. If you are not sure what your WenGage account information is, contact Deana Paden at dpaden@eufaula.k12.ok.us or Kristi Colbert at kcolbert@eufaula. k12.ok.us.

This must be done in order for your student to be able to get their schedule when the time comes.

Mandatory drug testing and physicals for all high school students participating in extra curricular activities, including 8th grade band members who will participate in high school band, will take place on Aug. 3 at the high school. Orientation for boys begins at 10:15 a.m. followed by drug testing until 1 p.m. Orientation for girls begins at 1:15 p.m., followed by drug testing until 4 p.m.

Also on Aug. 3, starting at 6 p.m., sports physicals for students in 9th to 12th grades will be offered for free at the Middle School.

Students may not participate in drug testing if mandator orientation meetings are not attended.

Those who miss initial drug tests may not participate in any extracurricular activities until an initial drug test is done.

Juniors and seniors interested in enrolling in the Eufaula High School’s Senior Internship progrm must attend a meeting in the high school school auditorium at 6 p.m. with a parent or guardian.

High school 2024 seniors who want to participate in the EHS internship in the Fall semester must attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Students and parents must be present for approval for the internship program.

On Monday, July 31 there will be a meeting of parents and students concerning the virtual school program. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. High school students interested in enrolling in the virtual school program must attend this meeting with a parent or guardian to be considered.

Applications are now being accepted from seniors interested in The Gates Scholarship Program, which offers a full scholarship to qualified students.

Avery Armstrong, a senior at Eufaula High School in 2023, was one of 750 applicants who received the Gates Scholarship from across the nation this year. Over 51,000 seniors applied. Armstrong said he plans to attend Duke University.
