What a changing society we have today

Lake Eufaula Christian Church

The media and some political leaders belittle the traditional family while glorifying transgenderism, abortion, and other hot topic issues.

In the name of compassion, our open borders allow unvetted migrants, including criminals, to invade our land—not to mention the drug cartel making millions with drugs that kill many Americans. Counteracting such environmental negativity with helpful positivity can be done only by keeping our families God-centered.

Healthy families put God first, and they provide for each other, making a conscious effort to provide not only physical needs like food, clothing, and shelter, but also emotional and spiritual needs.

Some people like to brag that they don’t need anything from anyone. But, when you reach beyond the surface level of such a statement, it’s simply not true. As independent as we might think we are, God designed us with very particular needs.

Sadly, too many people today use the blessings given to them by God solely and selfishly for their own desires, while their family’s needs go unmet. That’s troubling! It is not a characteristic of a Christ-centered, spiritually healthy home which emphasizes genuine love, spiritual values, and both emotional and physical security. God knows we’re not perfect, and we’re going to make mistakes. But, we should be quick to apologize and forgive, avoiding nitpicking and antagonizing any family member.

We provide for our family’s spiritual needs by making sure they are actively involved in the faith. We want them to be involved in studying God’s word, praying together, worshiping together, and sharing their faith with other people. The Bible says multiple times that we have been entrusted with spiritual treasures. Family is one of those treasures, and a day will come when each of us will have to give an account of how we led our family.

Healthy families have God conversations in which we talk and share the truths of the holy Bible and God’s work in our lives with those around us.

Such a chat might happen regularly by setting a specific time for family worship. Or perhaps sharing what God is doing in your life over a meal, or using anything you encounter anytime as an illustration of God’s word. We can explain the one true God in a manner easily understood by children. As an example, God is made up of three entities—the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit—just like water, which can be liquid, ice or steam.

All three are illustrated in the Bible’s story of Jesus’ baptism when the Father’s voice from heaven says, “This is my Son, whom I love. With Him I am well pleased.”

One true God, three distinct forms of the Holy Trinity.

Healthy families serve each other, the way Jesus served us when He came to earth for that very purpose. In fact, Jesus says those who will be great in His kingdom will be those who follow His footsteps in service. God also calls every family member to model grace in their relationships, just as He offers us grace—not based on something we’ve done. We didn’t earn it, and we don’t deserve it, but it’s a gift from God because of what Jesus did for us.

We welcome all people, but we’re called to help our families reject our world’s ungodly programming by keeping our families Godcentered— the way we encourage at services at 415987 High 9, Eufaula. Sunday school is a 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m., and Wednesday all-age activities at 6:30 p.m. We wholeheartedly welcome all who think it might be time to start embracing Godly values.

God Bless You!

Jeremy Little, Minister
