Checotah graduate and longtime Wildcat assistant basketball coach Malcolm Warrior was hired as the new head coach for the program after Jason Dowdy stepped down to take over as Athletic Director.

““I am extremely thankful and excited for the opportunity to lead this incredible team of young men in the same awesome community that I grew up in. I am honored to be able to push these student athletes towards their potential in the sport of basketball and in life. Together, we will strive for greatness and each day we will push each other towards being the best versions of ourselves. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish as a team and what these young men will achieve in their futures. Go Wildcats!” Checotah head basketball coach Malcom Warrior said.

Warrior has already hired his assistant in another Checotah graduate Cade Colburn.

“I’m excited to see two local guys get the opportunity to come back to their school as coaches and be successful,” Checotah Athletic Director Jason Dowdy said.
