Texanna Lady Crafters May 19, 2023
By Sue Taylor-Loudermilk,

We held our business meeting on May 19, 2023 with minutes and treasurer reports presented and approved. Our birthdays next month are: Diane Hanson 11th, Helen Tremain 13th. Happy Birthday Ladies.

Well, our president Karen Franz started our meeting off with one her legendary jokes: Why did the chicken cross the road? For the Shell of It! Thank you, McIntosh County, for making our garage sale a success! That money will go toward supplies for our crafts. Again, Thank You. Sandy Bethell sold over 50 Easter Baskets, also helping make money for supplies and donations. We want to congratulate Kelly Taylor for winning the “Volunteer of the Year for McIntosh County.” That makes two in a row for our girls. Last year Sandy Bethell won also. Our ladies do so much for your community in so many ways. Deena Carter is working on Corn Hole Boards, and hope to have some in the shop soon. Claudia has been creating some new decorations made with jar lids. Helen is at it again creating a Red/ White/Blue wreath for Memorial Day or 4th of July, and everyone is in full gear making R/W/B things. You just must come by and see them.

We recently donated to the VFW for supplies for the 1,000 troops leaving for Africa. The Blue Star Mothers greatly appreciate everything anyone does for these young men and women. We are all making cookies for the Wreaths Across America presentation in McAlester, Okla. On June 3, 2023, it’s a mobile Museum with honors for our military members, stories, and education. Call VFW 8798 in Eufaula for more information. Most of our members will be attending a “Celebration of Life” for one of our oldest and dearest, Ms. Linda Ramsey. For those of you who knew her, it will be held on June 3, 2023 at her home 115693 S. 4195 Rd in Checotah at 4:00 p.m. We will meet at the TLC shop and travel back in the woods to find it at 3:30. Sandy will lead the way. Linda would have gotten a kick out of us. I’m sure there will be some good stories to share. She was such a sweet dear person and could make wonderful pies for our bake sales. Speaking of, we will be having our Bake Sale on June 30-July 1st this year. We will have your treats for 4th of July weekend, so don’t worry about making cakes, pies, or cookies. Let us cover you there as well as help the community.

We want to send prayers out to some of our members that have been ill and hopefully on the road to recovery. We met Eufaula’s new football coach this last weekend. Very nice, polite young man, wanting to help support us. He does love Eufaula and we enjoyed the visit. I am a big hugger, my family has always been. It seems to be a dying tradition, but everyone needs to read LaDonna’s Last Word article she put in the Indian Journal and the Democrat – The Power of Touch. Worth the time. Hug your loved ones, never know when it may be the last time you can.

We are fixing to put flowers on those we can’t next weekend, so hug the ones you can today. Have a safe Memorial Weekend, God bless you and keep you safe.

We are located on Texanna Road, right across from Dawn’s Café, look for the little green alien in front of our store, come by and see us. We are open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Look for the Butterfly board. Stop and take a picture with your family. It’s free.
