Can you imagine how Jesus’ disciples feel when he goes on his Templecleansing tirade? They are in the holiest of all places, the very heart of their religious tradition, and Jesus literally turns everything upside down - driving out all the animals, overturning the money changers’ tables, etc. (John 2:13-22). It isn’t just Jesus’ emotional outburst that gets people’s attention; it’s his daring challenge to the whole Jewish religious system that so shocks and angers them.
