“We’re excited about the season and today and actually getting to compete against other schools,” Checotah head coach Erin Bridges said.
“I can’t wait to play. It’s been a long time since we have been together in competition. I’m excited for us. We have motivated coaches and team that has a lot of experience,” Checotah senior Vanessa Henson said.
The Eufaula Lady Ironheads hosted Heavener in scrimmage on July 16. The team started several highly talented underclassmen after losing nine seniors to graduation.
“We have some really great athletes on this team. Now it’s my job to figure where to best utilize their talents. They’re willing to listen and to be coached that’s the main thing. I think that we will be ok. Just like in any sport with a lot of underclassmen, you’re going to have growing pains but this team is motivated,” Eufaula head coach Ryan Green said.
