The McIntosh County District Attorney’s office last week charged a 28-year-old Morris woman with two counts of negligent homicide as the result of a fatal car accident on March 30.
Courtney Stanton was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox on U.S. 266 two miles east of Hitchita when she went left of center and struck head-on a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Killed in the accident were the Jetta’s driver Erwin Christensen and his wife Janet, both 62.
The Bristow residents died at the scene.
Stanton and two children, Raelynn Stanton, 3 and Brynlee Stanton 4, were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where the children later died, according to the OHP.
Associate District Judge Brendon Bridges set bond for Stanton at $1,000.
Stanton’s defense attorney, Warren Gotcher, entered a not guilty plea.
A court date for a misdemeanor docket was set for 9 a.m., Sept. 4.
