Support Group Eastern Oklahoma Development District (EODD) Area Agency on Aging would like to invite any and all Caregivers to a Caregiver Support Group. A caregiver is anyone who is providing care for another person who needs assistance with daily living. The Caregiver Support Group will be on the first Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at New Community Church, 3600 E Shawnee Road Muskogee. Texanna FD

Auxiliary seeking The membership Texanna Fire Department Auxiliary is seeking new members to attend our monthly meetings and assist with our fundraisers to help support our volunteer fire department.

If you are interested in joining, or just want to check it out, we would welcome your presence at any of our meetings, held on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. at our firehouse on Texanna Road, four miles east of U.S. Highway 69.

Tai Chi classes The McIntosh County Health Department is beginning Tai Chi for Better Balance classes at the Eufaula Memorial Library every Monday.

Beginning classes will be held 11 a.m. until noon and advanced classes will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. For more information call 918-490-0257.

Our men and women’s auxiliary meets every second Tuesday of the month at 11 a.m. at our firehouse, four miles east of U.S. Highway 69. We welcome new faces, new ideas and input.

MCN Head Start accepting

applications

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Head Start is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year.

Applications are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at the MCN’s Eufaula Head Start Center, 320 Swadley Drive, Eufaula.

There is no cost to families.

The child must be three to five years of age. The child must turn three by Sept. 1.

All applications are welcome.

Children with disabilities are accepted.

Transportation may be provided.

Hands and the Clothes Closet

God’s Helping Hands and the Clothes Closet have moved to their new location at 600 Border St.in Eufaula.

The Eufaula Playhouse’s monthly meetings will take place on the second Sunday of every month at the Eufaula Public Library at 6 p.m. We would like to encourage anyone who would like to know more about the playhouse to attend any of our meetings.

Outreach Center offers help to

the needy

Piney Creek Fellowship Church Outreach Center is now accepting clothing, household items and food donations. We are now part of the Eastern Oklahoma Food Bank. You may get household and clothing anytime we are open. There is a maintenance fee of 50 cents per item. The food is given once per month per household and you must provide a current photo ID, social security card (per USDA) and utility bill to verify residency. There is no charge for the food.

Location: Longtown. Take SH 9 east toward Stigler. Turn left on Piney Creek Road, go north about three miles and turn left on Hidden Ridge Road. We are on the left side. Just follow the signs. Volunteers are needed. If you’re interested, contact Linda Rankin at the below listed number.

The Center is open the second and fourth Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Do you need a break? Are you caring for someone 60 years or older that needs assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, walking, transferring, or toileting?

Do you assist someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia?

The Caregiver program might be just what you’re looking for.

The respite vouchers are a total of $250 for a 3-month period.

The caregiver can hire someone of their choosing to give them a much- needed break.

There are no income guidelines for this program.

sought to honor fi Th rste responders McIntosh County LEO and Emergency Responder Appreciation Group is seeking donations for a law enforcement officer and emergency responder appreciation pool. This is a way to give back to the local law enforcement and emergency responders who put their time and lives on the line daily. Businesses who want to donate a gift certificate or item can drop it off at the Eufaula Area Chamber of Commerce office at 321 N. Main St., Eufaula or call 918-689-2791. The appreciation group is an extension of the Eufaula Chamber Ambassador Group.

A group called Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS) has formed in Eufaula. For information call Murray Lewis, 918-230-3817. SOS, also called Save Our Selves, takes a non-religious approach to addressing issues of addiction recovery.

The SOS approach stresses rational decision making rather than focusing on religious or spiritual guidelines. SOS says it is an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Porum Landing Volunteer Fire Department

The Porum Landing Volunteer Fire Department has a complimentary meal schedule that includes free bingo with prizes on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

Bingo is at 10 a.m. and the meal is served at 11:30 a.m. Blood pressure and glucose testing is available at 10:45 a.m.

The fire department is located nine miles east of U.S. 69 on Texanna Road. Everyone is invited to attend.

Library hosting membership drive

Support your local library by becoming a member of Friends of Eufaula Memorial Library. Annual dues are only $5 and they support all of the services and programs that the library offers. Lifetime memberships are also available for $100 and are tax deductible. FEML meets at 11:30 a.m. beginning with a luncheon available for a $5 donation followed by a program and short business meeting. Meetings are generally on the third Wednesday of each month September through May. Dues may be sent to Friends of Eufaula Memorial Library, 301 S. First St., Eufaula, OK 74432.
