Associate District Judge, McIntosh County

Have you ever received any type of reprimand from the bar association? That’s a great question and I am happy to answer it. I have never received or had any

Have you ever received any type of reprimand from the bar association? That’s a great question and I am happy to answer it. I have never received or had any hint of any reason to have a reprimand or bar complaint. I have helped thousands of well satisfied clients that I have helped in every aspect of the law in McIntosh County and all-over Southeast Oklahoma. And many have written me letters of recommendation.

How long have you been practicing? I have been a practicing attorney in McIntosh County for approximately (10) years. I graduated with highest honors from the University of Tulsa School of Law in 2009, receiving numerous awards and merit-based scholarships. Upon graduating, I received a number of different offers to work for larger firms in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, but felt passionate about returning to McIntosh County, raising a family, and being involved in building a safe and strong County. Since this time, my staff and I have built a successful law practice, primarily by word of mouth and the results obtained for our clients. I have also been blessed to be able to serve this County in various elected positions, including Eufaula City Council and Eufaula Board of Education. With the retirement of our current judge, I see an important need and an opportunity to serve McIntosh County. My goal is to work very hard for the citizens of McIntosh County, to correctly and fairly apply the law to the facts of each case, do my part in building a safe and strong County, and to dedicate each day to being diligent, consistent, and fair to all who come before our Court without regard to a person’s income status, race, gender, or belief.

What areas of the law do you practice in? I take pride in having the knowledge, ability, and experience successfully practicing in almost every area of the law. Currently, I am actively practicing in the areas of criminal law, civil litigation, including wrongful deaths and catastrophic injuries, Native American rights, such as the Indian Child Welfare Act and restrictions on Indian lands, family law, property law, estate planning, bankruptcy, and appellate practice. My desire is to put the knowledge and experience obtained in these areas to work serving the citizens of McIntosh County.

How long have you been practicing in the district and in Oklahoma? I have spent all (9) years of my career at the same office in Eufaula, though I represent clients throughout the State of Oklahoma, in Federal Court, and before numerous tribal courts, including the Muscogee Creek Nation. In my career I have come to strongly believe fairness, consistency, respectfulness, courage, and diligence are fundamental traits to be a successful judge. I seek to exhibit these traits daily. more funding to the classroom and finish what I started for the Retired Teachers. For this work, I received the endorsement from the Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) and the Oklahoma Retired Educators (OREA).

3.  Improving Roads and Bridges. We must continue to fund rural infrastructure. J have fought to get the dollars for road and bridge construction outside of Oklahoma City and Tulsa and into our rural communities. I will continue this fight and make sure we adequately fund the 8 eight year plan to address dangerous bridges and fix high priority roads.

Explain your positions on economic development as it pertains to rural Oklahoma in general and

McIntosh County in particular:

While I believe my track record on economic development in McIntosh County has been positive, there is still much to be done. I have worked with every level of job opportunity creator here. Starting with the economic development leaders in  Checotah  to explore a new industrial park and connecting them with the right people to potentially fund the road infrastructure for that park. I have worked with tourism leaders to provide necessary funding for projects like the Honey Springs Battlefield.

So what’s my plan? I will not stop looking for opportunities to bring job opportunities to McIntosh County like the ones I have worked in my first term.
